Amy's Kitchen

Family Owned. Fiercely Independent.

After the birth of our daughter Amy in 1987, we started Amy’s Kitchen to produce delicious, nourishing organic convenience foods for health-conscious people who are sometimes too busy to cook. Amy’s is a family-run business, and we supervise every aspect of our business. All the fruits, vegetables and grains we use are grown organically, without the use of insecticides, GMOs and other harmful chemicals. We prepare these natural ingredients with the same careful attention in our kitchen as you would in your own home.

We were organic before it was a national certification. So when the U.S. Department of Agriculture decided to create standards for organic, they looked to us for guidance. Together with other industry leaders, we helped pioneer the organic food industry and, more importantly, we helped make organic food available to more people.

Our Food Philosophy

We believe that good, flavorful food is made with good, flavorful ingredients and a lot of love.

Delicious above everything

We believe that you can never be too thorough. That’s why we taste every zucchini, carrot, mushroom and everything else we grow. This might have something to do with our reputation with farmers for being picky and demanding; but if you’re making tomato soup, you have to start with the best tomato you can find.

Our Kitchens

We don’t manufacture food. We cook it with love.

Just look at the label to see which products are:

  • Gluten free
  • Dairy free
  • Lactose free
  • Soy free
  • Tree nut free
  • Corn free
  • Vegan

Frequently Asked Questions

How much less sodium does this minestrone have compared to regular canned soup?

Amy's Light in Sodium Minestrone contains 50% less sodium than the brand's standard minestrone recipe, making it easier to fit into a low-sodium or heart-conscious eating plan.

Is this soup a good fit for someone managing hypertension?

Yes. With 50% less sodium than the regular version and USDA certified organic ingredients, it's designed for shoppers who want a satisfying soup that won't push them over their daily sodium target.

Are the ingredients truly organic and free from artificial additives?

Yes. The vegetables, beans, noodles, and tomato broth are USDA certified organic, and the soup contains zero grams of trans fat, supporting a cleaner, more mindful eating routine.

Will this soup still feel filling enough to count as a real meal?

Absolutely. It features hearty beans and noodles in a rich tomato broth, so it works as a standalone lunch or light dinner rather than a thin side dish.

Can I pair this with other foods for a balanced wellness-focused meal?

Yes. Many shoppers pair it with a slice of crusty whole-grain bread, a leafy side salad, or fresh fruit to build a balanced, sodium-conscious plate.

I'm trying to lower my sodium intake without giving up canned soup — is this the right pick?

Yes. This is specifically formulated for shoppers who want the convenience of a ready-to-heat canned soup without the sodium load of traditional varieties.

Is this a good option for a clean-label, organic-focused lifestyle?

Yes. With USDA organic certification and no trans fat, it aligns with shoppers who read ingredient labels carefully and prioritize recognizable, whole-food components.

Does this soup fit into a Mediterranean or DASH-style eating pattern?

Yes. The combination of beans, vegetables, and tomato broth in a lower-sodium format is a natural fit for both Mediterranean and DASH-style meal plans.

How does this compare to other low-sodium canned soups on the market?

Unlike many low-sodium options that rely on artificial flavor boosters, Amy's version uses USDA organic ingredients and a traditional minestrone base for cleaner flavor.

Can I use this soup as a gentle way to transition off higher-sodium comfort foods?

Yes. Because the recipe keeps the hearty minestrone character intact, it's an easy swap for shoppers who want familiar comfort while reducing sodium.

Is the can BPA-free and safe for regular microwaving?

The soup comes in a single-serve microwavable container designed for safe heating. Always follow the on-pack heating instructions and remove the lid before microwaving.

What if I'm not sure I'll like the flavor after cutting back on salt?

Amy's builds flavor with organic vegetables, beans, herbs, and tomato rather than salt alone, so most shoppers adjusting to lower-sodium eating find it genuinely satisfying.

I watch every ingredient label — will anything in this surprise me?

The ingredient list is built around organic vegetables, beans, noodles, and tomato broth, with no trans fat, making it a straightforward choice for label-conscious shoppers.

How do I heat Amy's Light in Sodium Minestrone?

Microwave on high for about 2 minutes (stir halfway through) after removing the lid, or pour the soup into a pot and heat on the stovetop over medium until hot. Always follow the instructions printed on the container.

Do I need to add water or any other ingredients before heating?

No. The soup is fully prepared in a single-serve container — just heat and eat. You can stir in fresh herbs or a splash of olive oil if you'd like to customize it.

How should I store unopened cans, and how long do they last?

Store unopened cans in a cool, dry pantry away from direct sunlight. As a shelf-stable product, they have a long shelf life; always check the best-by date printed on the bottom of the can.

Is the microwavable container BPA-free and food-safe?

The container is designed and tested for safe microwave use. Always remove the lid before microwaving and follow the on-pack heating directions.

Does this soup contain any major allergens like dairy, gluten, or soy?

The recipe is built around organic vegetables, beans, noodles, and tomato broth. It contains wheat (noodles) and may be produced in a facility that handles other allergens, so always review the ingredient label for the most accurate allergen information.

What comes in the package — is it ready to eat as soon as I open it?

Each package contains one 14.1 oz single-serve microwavable container of minestrone soup. It is fully cooked, so you only need to heat it before eating.

Is the container safe to microwave, and will it get extremely hot?

Yes, the container is designed for microwave use. The exterior will become hot during heating, so handle it with care and use the pull tab or oven mitts to remove it from the microwave.

Can I freeze leftover soup if I don't finish the whole container?

Yes. Transfer any leftover soup to a freezer-safe container, cool it first, and freeze for up to a few weeks. Thaw and reheat thoroughly before serving.

Is this considered a soup or a full meal?

It's a hearty minestrone with beans, vegetables, and noodles, so it works as a light entrée on its own or as a starter to a larger meal depending on your appetite.
